You want events? We got you.

The next few months are going to be packed with things to do and ways to build community and friendships.

You want events? We got you.

Letter from the Editor

Happy Friday Kiki-ers!

I'm up in Northern Arizona distributing more of our magazines and meeting with folks to talk about stories important to them, and people keep telling me the same thing: they want more things to do as a community.

Health fairs and pride events yearly are cool, they said, but they want more consistent opportunities to see and meet more people like them.

Here's what one person told me this morning: "I don't want to just read about things happening; I want to get involved. And not just in showing up at the Capitol or a school board meeting. I want community joy and problem-solving."

For those of you who feel the same, I want to plug our very last Summer of Solutions event for the year that's being held next Saturday at Stacys@Melrose. It's a community discussion on harm reduction: What is it? What is the misinformation you might be hearing about it? And how can we help each other get more of it?

Our last three S.O.S. events have been incredibly effective. People have left with new friends, new ideas for engaging their friends and family, and even left with a new perspective on things. As a newsletter subscriber to LOOKOUT, you get access to these kinds of events before we market them to the general public. I'd love to see you there if you can make it!

Also, if you were lucky enough to get into our OUTWATCH party last year, we're doing that and a whole lot more in the form of a week-long queer community festival called OUTWATCH Fest this October. We're bringing you a eight days of art, discussions, music, and literature across the state; All put on by organizations and venues we highlight often in this newsletter. Stay tuned for more info on that in the coming weeks!

WHERE ARE WE KIKI-ING?

Every Tuesday is Stacy's Rising Star show, held at Stacy's@Melrose. We popped in for a night to take photos for an upcoming story about drag performers and stuck around for the (very fun) show afterwards.
